Common words (the, and, you…) are left out. Around 0.5–2% for your main keyword reads naturally; much higher can look like keyword stuffing.

What is the Word Counter & Readability Checker?

Whether you are writing a sales page, a blog post, a meta description or an Instagram caption, length and readability matter. This free word counter updates as you type: words, characters with and without spaces, sentences, paragraphs, reading and speaking time.

It also checks reading ease and grade level, shows your keyword density, and warns you when the text is too long for common limits — SEO titles, meta descriptions, X posts, ad headlines and more.

How to use the Word Counter & Readability Checker

  1. Type or paste your text into the box.
  2. Read the counts and readability; shorten long sentences until the score is green.
  3. Add a target keyword to see how often it appears and its density.
  4. Check the platform limits before you paste the text elsewhere.

Understanding your results

Flesch reading ease
60–70+ is easy, plain English — ideal for marketing copy. Below 50 is hard for most readers.
Grade level
The school grade needed to read it comfortably. Sales copy reads best at grade 6–8.
Keyword density
How often a phrase appears relative to all words. 0.5–2% for a main keyword reads naturally.
